Tractor time is the BEST time!
This planting season was a whirlwind of interesting weather, but the crops are all in!
Being a Farmer isn’t just a career, it’s a WAY OF LIFE. I will admit, this is something, I took for granted before meeting my hubby.
Honestly, when I met my {hunk of a} Farmer I had NO, seriously NO, interest in farming what-so-EVER! Hell, I still haven’t got over the smells that the farm life brings. But, after learning more about farming + meeting the Farmer’s who are raising the animals {our food} + driving the tractors {planting/growing the corn that feeds our food}, I have gained a whole new respect for the farming community.
Technology, WOW has it changed! It blows my mind! This Case IH 420 tractor actually drives itself up + down the rows. SAY WHAT?! New technology saves countless amounts of time spent in the fields.
My hubby is a 5th Generation Farmer living in the 20th century, which means farming is a whole new ballgame now-a-days. My father-in-law is always telling stories about what life used to be like living on the farm + OH MY GOSH how it has changed! I couldn’t imagine what farming was like 10, 20, 50+ years ago. I think the days + nights are long now, I couldn’t image what farmers had to endure years ago. Once again, I have a whole new RESPECT for Farmers.
AMERICA NEEDS FARMERS
Riding in the buddy seat isn’t so bad when you are sitting next to this handsome fella. Some may say it’s boring, but I actually enjoy riding shotgun with my farming hubby! PLUS, I always bring snacks + a few {ice cold Bud Lights} beverages with, just in case we get thirsty of course!
Now this guy, he is a Future Farmer in the making! …He wasn’t actually driving in this photo, but he does drive the tractor. Watch out dad, he’s a natural!
Be.Still.My.Heart.
The way he looks up to his dad is indescribable. He is seriously a “Justin Junior,” without the title of course.
Did I mention how proud of them I am?…
Sometimes things break… so Mr.Fixit arrives, aka my hubby.
While he fixes the machines Luke + I supervise + check to make sure nothing else is broken! (I will be honest, I would have NO CLUE if something was broke. I just walk around + act like I know what I’m looking for.) My “go to ” line is “It looks good over here,” (with a questionable/I have no idea what I’m looking for expression on my face). Remember, I’m a FWIT (Farm Wife In Training). — I totally just made that acronym up!
Luke + I are still learning this whole “farming thing,” so we help where we can. Even if that means testing out the tractor tire rims to see if we can lay comfortably inside of them!
HOLD UP! Can you believe how big he is getting?! I cannot believe that this handsome young man is going to be 9 years old, yes, you heard me, 9 YEARS OLD, in 3 months!
Dear time, please stop.
…And of course, we like to have some fun while we wait for dad to fix the harrow on the field cultivator.

Being a farm wife has it’s UPs + downs, but at the end of the day it is extremely rewarding. Words cannot describe how thankful I am to be married to a Farmer.
